Bearings are prefabricated metal mechanisms designed for use in tandem with rotating shafts in the structures of various units and machines. It is these devices that act as supports that support the elements of movable assemblies in accordance with the required level of rigidity. Various domestic and foreign manufacturers offer to buy bearings at retail and wholesale today. At the same time, they are manufactured in a wide range of types and sizes, which determines the possibility of their use as components for units of various purposes and capacities.

Ball bearings

These supporting kinematic products are the most in demand in mechanical engineering, automotive and many other industries. Structurally, they are a housing consisting of two (inner and outer) rings, which enclose spherical bodies of rotation in a cage (separator) made of steel or synthetic material.

Their main advantage is the ability to perceive both radial radial and axial loads, which makes it possible to use a wide range of components and assemblies for various purposes in the production. In addition, they have minimal friction characteristics, due to which they can be installed on shafts operating at high speeds and under critical loads.

Depending on the ability to cope with a particular impact, ball bearings can be:

radial – suitable for devices with high radial forces;

thrust – designed for assemblies subjected to high axial loads;

combined (thrust-radial) – have the qualities of the two previous types.

Today they are actively used in the designs of electric motors and gearboxes, pumping, medical and other equipment.

Roller bearings

The main feature of such kinematic mechanisms is that the role of functional elements in them is performed not by balls, but by small cylinders. They are also located in a special separator, and if necessary, not one, but several rows of rolling elements can be used in the design of the product.

Mechanisms of this type are used to complete mobile units of aggregates and machines experiencing high radial loads with complete absence or minimum axial values. Depending on the type of construction, they can be:

cylindrical. They have high strength characteristics. Due to this, they are used in the designs of powerful industrial machines, large electric motors and pumping equipment;

conical. They are designed to complete assemblies with a cone-shaped mechanical clutch. They are in demand in railway boxes and in road transport.

Another specific type of mechanism of this type is needle bearings, in which the role of rolling elements is performed by cylinders with an insignificant cross section. Although they are inferior to traditional cylindrical models in terms of rotation speed, the production of office and household appliances, as well as compact power tools, cannot do without their use.
