How to bring down the temperature without medication?

How to bring down the temperature without medication?

To bring down the temperature does not mean to help recovery, because the indicator of high temperature indicates that a person is fighting the disease. But high temperature against the background of increased metabolism can lead to a violation of the water-salt balance and depletion of energy reserves, which, in turn, can lead to improper functioning of the nervous system, kidneys and heart muscle… The potential danger of high temperature is associated precisely with the intensification of metabolic processes and the increased need for oxygen in the body. It is not necessary to bring down the temperature of 37 degrees – it helps to destroy pathogenic microorganisms and maximize the recovery process of damaged tissues.

What happens to the body at high temperatures?

  • Sweating decreases
  • Muscle tone increases
  • There are muscle pains
  • Metabolism is activated
  • The pulse is getting faster
  • The skin becomes dry and hot
  • The appetite disappears, the person feels chills, the body shivers
  • It is much easier to bring down the temperature with the help of medicines than without them, but it is still possible if you know some techniques for reducing the temperature in adults and children.

1.In order to reduce the temperature in adults, it is necessary:

  • Create a cool air temperature in the room, 18-20 C, but excluding drafts.
  • Drink plenty of liquid at room temperature.
  • It can be unsweetened berry fruit drinks, mineral water, compote, weak tea, just water.
  • You need to drink in small portions, but constantly. At the same time, care should be taken to ensure that urination is also sufficient.
  • Place your feet in a basin of cool water.
  • Apply cool compresses to the body: moisten towels or sheets in water and apply to the legs, forehead, neck, wrists, armpits and groin.
  • Wipe the body with cool water (20-22 C): alternately moisten the body parts with water, then let them dry.
  • Sit in a bath with slightly warm water (33-35 C) so that the water is waist-deep. Wipe the face and upper body with the same water. This method is most effective because it allows you to simultaneously bring down the temperature and flush toxins from the skin.
  • Apply ice to the projection sites of large vessels. Crushed ice should be poured into a plastic bag and alternately applied to certain areas, after protecting them with a dry cloth: forehead, armpits, the area under the knees and inguinal folds. The duration of the procedure is no more than 5 minutes, after an interval of 15 minutes, you can repeat the application.
  • Put on light cotton clothes and lie in bed. A sign of a decrease in temperature is sweating, as well as the disappearance of muscle pain and chills.

2.In order to reduce the temperature in children.

The temperature in children of the first year of life should not be allowed to take its course. Organs and systems are not yet perfect, and the reaction to hyperthermia can be severe, you always need to seek medical help! Older children can also be helped without medication. But several points should be taken into account: if the general condition is severe, the child does not drink or urinate, cold limbs against a background of high temperature, and the temperature, having fallen, immediately rises to high levels, an ambulance should be called without delay, because hyperthermia also manifests life–threatening diseases: meningitis, sepsis, pneumonia, etc.

  • To create a cool air temperature in the room where the child is (18-20 C), there should be no drafts.
  • Undress the child to his panties – heat will evaporate from a large surface of the skin.

Give the child a drink. About 5-10 ml of liquid (room temperature water) should be given every 5 minutes. Very often, children with fever refuse to drink. You can drink with a syringe, removing the needle from it, give it to drink in a drinking cup, a favorite bottle, i.e. to interest the baby. It is not allowed to drink a large amount of water at the same time, as this can provoke vomiting.

Wipe the child's body with water at a temperature of about 22-25 degrees. You should not wipe the whole body at once, so as not to cause chills. First, the face and forehead are wiped, which are dried with a towel after a minute, then according to the same principle — arms, neck, back, legs.

For children from 3 years old, this method is also possible: pour lukewarm water into a basin (36-37 C), put a naked child there and pour water from the same basin over him, except for the head for 2-3 minutes. Then you need to wipe the child, put him in cotton clothes and put him to bed.
