Before a family buys their own apartment, they move from one dwelling to another several times during the period of living together. There may be several reasons for a change of location. More favorable living conditions, lower rental cost, close location to work. But, the most terrible thing in this case is the move itself. It is not for nothing that classical literature and psychology compare this process with a fire. In order not to get lost, and to do everything right, it is necessary to approach the relocation with a cool head.

Long before the move

A few weeks before the truck arrives at the entrance, you can start packing things into boxes. Why in cardboard boxes? They are much easier to transport and store compactly in the back. Signed in advance, they will allow you to easily find the most important things after moving, and not unpack everything in a row. Thus creating chaos in the new apartment.

You can pack seasonal items, camping equipment, household appliances in advance, which you can do without for the next 2 weeks. Wrap most of the cutlery in paper. Anyone can live for a couple of weeks with half of the plates, forks and spoons.

A week before departure

The moment has come to collect almost all your belongings. It is necessary to be especially careful with fragile objects. They must be additionally protected with thin foam or crumpled paper. Styrofoam, even damaged, is the easiest to get at any hardware store. Cardboard boxes in the supermarket, offering the store employees a double tariff for receiving waste paper.

The most difficult thing to deal with is computer equipment and large household appliances. It is best to transport electronics in branded packaging, or recreate it as closely as possible on your own. Disconnect household appliances from water pipes, sewers and electricity. Make sure there is no water left inside. Remove the shelves and attachments, which may be damaged by shaking during transportation.

On the day of the move

You should not hope that you can handle the transfer of things on your own, or with the help of a friend. Only if he is not a bodybuilder and at the same time a big fan of physical activity. Otherwise, the help of movers from the moving company will pay off with preserved health and the whole contents of the boxes.

Important: cabinet furniture is transported only in disassembled condition. It perfectly withstands static loads, but it will not withstand dynamic loads when assembled. Moreover, most sofas and cabinets will not physically fit into an elevator and stairwells, without partial disassembly.

After moving, give yourself a day to rest. It is best to take 1-2 days of vacation at work at your own expense, and calmly disassemble, connect and configure the most important household appliances. Everything without which everyday life will not be a medieval penal servitude.
