Stretching before training, or rather its necessity, is an issue that is very seriously discussed among strength sports. Interestingly, almost all the literature on fitness or bodybuilding says in one voice that stretching before training is necessary. As a justification, they propose a thesis about the possibility of injury and the inability to show good results during training. There is some truth in this, of course, but is this statement 100% true?

First, let's learn a piece of anatomy and remember the structure of the joint of the human body. Any joint is covered with a layer of connective tissue called a joint pouch. If the joint is subjected to constant force load, then the joint bag thickens and the skeleton becomes stronger. All this leads to higher levels of strength and endurance. We have this in the «plus» section, as a «minus» we have a decrease in limb mobility.

If we consider flexible joints, they are elastic and move perfectly dynamically, but they are not able to withstand serious power loads. Making hasty conclusions, we can assume that stretching is simply necessary so that we don't get stiff at all!? And then what about the high results?

Interestingly, medical research on the benefits of static stretching has produced very unexpected results. For static stretching, it is necessary to freeze in a certain position for 20 seconds, but this seriously reduces the strength indicators of the training process. Scientists will not understand what is the matter here, but it is obvious that static stretching is harmful to professional athletes at the beginning of training. But in the end, it is very appropriate, as it calms the nervous and muscular system, having some properties of the relaxation process.

But dynamic stretching before training is used by bodybuilders in England. We are talking about explosive swing movements, which have only a positive effect on subsequent training.
